i bought this awesome colonial today. I am very pleased with it and I think the price was more than fair. the variety is Crosby 1-B, blunt rays.

any thoughts are welcomed and appreciated, especially those regarding grade and value.

all help appreciated.

side note, it is not as noticeable in the pictures, but in hand but this coin has very attractive color and no porosity, it is remarkable smooth and has a nice planchet which I've noticed is not very easy to come by on colonial US pieces.

another side note, anything appearing to be edge damage is my finger or a shadow..the edges are quite nice and damage free.

edited to add that I may sound like I only care about value here but that is far from the truth, these have always been a favoite colonial of mine and I love the history about the US, especially this time period.

Nice pick-up! Nice piece of history there.

I share your passion for the early coppers, Dollarman. IMHO, it's a G-6, but it could slab as VG, given the better than average planchet and the propensity of TPG'ers to be more forgiving on these early issues.

On the plus side, the date and legends are there. As is often the case with the Nova's, the central regions are well worn. Sadly, to me, the all seeing eye of God is worn smooth. The Nova's are one of the early, Godly coins of America and telling of our history as such.

IMHO ... $75-$90. I recently sold a slightly better specimen for $90.

thanks ExoGuy, I appreciate the help. I might put this one in the for sale section in a bit..it is nice to hold a piece of history and I'm grateful to own it but I need money for my core Canadian collection..we will see though as I wouldn't feel too good parting with it soon..so we will see, perhaps I can find stuff I'm more willing to let go of.
