Gooner24 New Member Belgium 29 Posts	Posted 04/09/2017 04:37 am Hello all, I scanned some of my coins yesterday for the first time (I normally use a camera) and notice green crap on my coin around the writing. I never noticed it before but again it my be because the scanner shows up more detail. I need some urgent help to stop it, I dont want to destroy the coin in the process or lose any of the lovely red colour but I do need help stopping it before it noms the entire coin lol. It's stored in a 5cm x 5cm cardboard/plastic coin holder, it's a new one too as when I bought it the old holder was a bit tatty. I've included a picture of it for u. I can set up a simple electrolosis (spelling) machine or can use oil and such but am so scared of ruining the coin but again I need to stop the green] Any help would be massively appreciated. Hopefully someone else will be around later to better judge which one you have. If the coin has changed recently, then I expect BD, but let's see what others have to say. Thats the thing, I honestly dont know if its recent or not, before I used a camera to take pictures but yesterday used a scanner and that shows more detail that is hard to see using a camera or the naked eye. Thats the problem with me and buying, at the time they look brilliant at first but then after a year or so, the more I examine them, the more I notice little things and am then left wondering if it was like that when I bought it lol. it is separate as well, in its own little holder Report this Post to the Staff
alganbagerap Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2490 Posts	Posted 04/09/2017 6:18 pm Verdigris or Bronze Disease, while you're waiting for a definitive answer, it won't hurt to use a low acidity olive oil bath. It should stabilise the coin. Report this Post to the Staff
