Found an 180? Large Cent today. I'm not even sure what to do to clean it up or preserve it at this point.

Well, there sure isn't any big hurry or need to clean it up. Did you metal detect it? If so, Go right back and scour that area, there might be more. I would hold off on worrying about cleaning it until you hear from the experts on that. I like it. Nice find!

I am not in any hurry to do much of anything with that coin. Yes I did metal detect that today. I have been going back to that spot all weekend.

I've heard that a very long soak in mineral oil may help the Large cents and ratty IH. The others could do with acetone soaking for a few days, then soap and distilled water to clean off. Nice finds!

As someone who lives in an area that was settled in the 1850s, I could never dream of finding a Draped Bust.
I was happy with the four 1940s Wheaties I dug up this week.
Congratulations on your large cents and all the other good finds you dug up.

Thanks everyone. I keep going back to the same spot and finding great coins. I even recently just found and 1852 3 cent silver at the same place. I live in MA so the detecting here seems to be all over the place with the age of the coins.
