Just found this penny coin roll hunting. I haven't seen anything in the books about a D over Horizontal D. Has anyone heard anything?

That's called a plating bubble, pocket under the thin plating of copper, is zinc rot under there. See the bubble NW of 1...

I was wondering that as well. That was going to be my 2nd question. Thank you!

The plating split on the lower SE corner of the mint mark during the strike. Happened a lot on the 1980's Zincolns. Seem like it happens less now on the 1990 forward coins that have the mint mark as part of the design.

Thanks Coop. So it's a plating split. Worthless coin then?

Not worthless but only worth one cent as long as it lasts.

Eventually it will be a Lincoln Kiss wrapper. The zinc will continue to rot away.
