My 7 dollar offer was declined...so bummed I cannot meet this person at the airport and discuss the stratification of neo-plasmatic empirical units in a non-delineated function of spherical assimilations involving tri-poly organic sub atomic and peripheral pnuematic sensory disturbance waves. I KNOW we could really get along!. This one beats the heck out of the "Ghost Cane", and the "Jesus Christ Grilled Cheese Sandwich"!! I just LOVE buying "Pulled Coins", especially for only 75k......they are fun to grade while eating "Pulled" Pork Sandwiches"!!

This was his reply: "personally, myself, if I had the choice, I would sell each coin separately, but unfortunately (for me) I don't have that choice, the collection has to be sold as one. besides, I wouldn't know what to charge for the halfs or the quarters or for the dollars etc. but thanks for the interest. I appreciate it. thanks , larry"

Offer him $75K if he agrees to throw in the 1879 Stella he pulled out. Quote: 36.left open, there was a coin in this slot(an 1879 four dollar gold coin) but after typing up the list, we decided not to sell this coin, because the value some of us felt exceeds the value of the whole collection we found out. although we could be mistaken, but for now, we are not including this coin.

He also wrote this to me BEFORE he wrote the response to my question. "i see that you are from Jupiter florida. thats a great place to live, work , play, and come this next winter I will be joining you on the treasure coast. do you ever go scuba diving looking for the gold from the 1715 wreck. thanks , larry"

Instead of toying with the guy, why not ask him a pointed question. Like did you mistakenly add an extra decimal to the listing? Or do you realize the collection isn't worth 75k? I would be interested in his collection for the right price and if he offered returns. He has a great selection of coins. So he's eccentric, ok. Dealt with plenty of those types before. But I think badgering him and wasting his time with idiotic offers is counterproductive. C'mon guys!

Quote: I would be interested in his collection for the right price and if he offered returns. He wants to hand deliver it so you could look at them right in front of him. The best thing to do in this case would be to work out some sort of deal your both happy with, then put a down payment with the understanding that when he arrives to deliver and the coins don't meet the grade so to speak you can get your down payment back. If the coins are acceptable when he arrives then rest of payment will be due in full. This way you are protected and don't have to fork out a huge amount of money to look at collection in hand.

What do you mean he wants to 'hand deliver it'?

Nevermind: Quote: THATS WHY, THE COLLECTION WILL BE HAND DELIVERED BY US. DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE, WE WILL EITHER DRIVE TO YOU OR FLY TO YOU AND MAKE SURE YOU GET WHAT YOU BOUGHT. Right... ok never mind. Nutbar factor 6.

My angle was to simply ask him if he would consider selling the The Bust Quarter and Bust Halves. I would be willing to give him a fair offer on those three coins if he provided me with ADEQUATE Obverse and Reverse photos of all three coins. I'm a Bust guy. I wouldn't know what to do with the rest of his stuff except for the 20 cent piece and some of the other type coins. Maybe he will still have the collection when he moves down here.

Probably a friend who inherited it since they seem to know nothing about them. Maybe if whole collection doesn't sell the "client" will allow him to sell them separately. I would watch this seller and check back in a couple weeks if collection doesn't sell.

I agree with staying in touch with this guy. There are very few raw pre-1800 quarters and halves around. I'm hoping that he realizes that most of us only want then coins that we "like" or are collecting. I really set my self up for a lousy photo comment

I was also not badgering him with my question. I basically asked why he was using ebay instead of a more appropriate auction for high-priced coins and requested more photos.
