What are your favorite bullion gold coins to collect?
Here are mine in this order-
1- Somalian Elephant 1oz (Because a big elephant on a coin rocks!)
2- Mexico Libertad 1 oz
3- China 30 gram Panda
4- Australia Kangaroo
5- American gold eagle
Sadly, I wont be doing a 2017 gold 1 oz elephant due to the silly, cartoonish looking elephant on front. I have taken a liking to the Libertads lately, mostly due to their low mintage out of the gold bullion coins. I really like the Kangaroos as well, they are low mintage, what I say like around 20K last year for the 1oz?
which brings me to another point- I prefer 1 oz and 1/2 ounce over all other sizes, 1/4 is OK, 1/10 oz I am not really a fan of and try to avoid if I can. I guess to me, the bigger the gold coin the better.
There are other gold bullion coins I like, like the Britannia but I dont dare to buy one because I worry about if I had to sell, I might be waiting forever to sell it lol

I actually prefer the 1/10 US Gold Eagles. They fit my budget.

I preferred buying it in year set if I can, but it can get pricey in any series.

Mac's comment about sets brings about another point I have-
I am not a fan of complete sets, seems to me they command less premium on the market than individual coins.
I could see Conners point, that 1/10 oz fits in a budget better AND as I always say, I prefer people, if they are going to put money into PMs, I prefer they buy way more gold over silver. So I guess 1/10 oz is a good way to collect gold.

I would buy it in set of slabs of that year, then see which one will bring in more premium. Sometime I take my chance and just purchase the one I think will bring profit over time, usually that's not the case. Edit: Wish I did held on to some of them, need to paid tuition for my kids.

Yup...I have pretty much quit buying silver unless I see a really good deal. I did buy 5 2017 ASE's last week for $100. Silver just started taking up too much room. I like the change to gold. I am just finding it extremely difficult to drop $1300 give or take on a full ounce of gold.

St Gaudens Double Eagle is a bullion coin to my mind, and is by far and away, MY favorite.
Arguably, the best design for a large gold coin ever!
The St George and Dragon sovereign would be a close second, but the Double Eagle has an excellent design on BOTH sides.
Neither of them were produced with the idea of being strictly NCLT. Officially, they were actually used as money.

I don't own any gold coins (I have a fake fractional California gold coin ) but I have recently been looking at Indian Head Quarter Eagles. I really like the design and it fits way better into my budget for coins, whether bullion or not.

I've always been fond of US $20's (see avatar pic), and also the Mexican 50 peso. Not quite bullion coins, but I also like the Napoleon III 100 francs, Brazil 20000 reis, Sardinia 80 lire, and shield back sovereigns.

I don't have any gold coins either yet. But when I finish all my world silver (or catch up enough to where I am just updating each series with the new coin each year)...I will try gold.
The coins you list are awesome, and you could expand it to make a world bullion 1 oz gold coin set.
Armenia Noah's Ark Austria Philharmonic Australia Kangaroo Canada Maple Leaf Mexico Libertad China Panda Britain Britannia Somalia Elephant Etc...there are many others in the around the world type set.
Also, many countries have a lunar gold 1 oz. So you could go two ways there-- type by country (all Rooster, for example) or take a single country and get each of the 12.
Anyway, so those are my favorites.
I prefer 1 oz in silver and nothing else. Sometimes 2 ounce, but I can't get into 1/2 oz or less. But with silver only shelling out $18-20 bucks for most 1 oz coins.
If it was gold, I like to fill holes...so I might have to go with 1/4 oz. I don't have the patience to save up enough for a 1 oz in one sitting.

I like the kangaroos, queen's beasts, and buffalo's. I also like the elephants, pandas, and Libertads, but the premiums on them are so high even when they are on sale, I just haven't been able to make myself pull the trigger on them. If I ever find a great deal on one, I'd definitely jump on it.

With the low premium, thin bid/ask spread, 37.5g gold content stamped on the coin AND design beauty, I prefer the Mexican 50 peso coin and as such, I'll take the other side of sel_691's argument. For a much lesser outlay, all of the above also apply to the 15g AU Mexican 20 peso coin. Both are worth a look and at 90% gold content, I have no issues with handling the coins for that extra level of gold appreciation versus just looking at say, a gold panda in mint packaging.

I like queen's beasts 1oz. because it just started so I have a chance to collect them all without paying too much premium. and there will be no more than 10 of them. quarter oz panda is my next favorite. it changes design every year
