I found this 1984-P in a bank roll this afternoon. At first I thought it was PSD, but the appearance of extra metal suggests a rim Cud. I had a hard time getting a good photograph.

I'll wait for more experienced folks to comment but I wanted to say those are excellent photos!

Well to be honest in some of the images I'd say yes and other no. With the way the light glare is hitting it is hard to determine. Is the rim dented where the questionable Cud is?

It would be helpful if you could post a pic of the whole reverse and then a closer up image where the Cud? is.

Edit: I have continued to look at your images along with those on the COC website and I am 99% sure that it is a RIM Cud

I have never seen one on a Nickel only Cents.

The image of the edge would suggest to me that this is PMD. Because the die wouldn't allow for the rim to raise above the normal position. The damage that is on the rim is most likely a slight MAD but then rolled over by a coin machine. But I'm by far an expert. So this is just this newbie's opinion!
Rest in Peace

Looks to me like the die hit the collar causing shift and heavy hit at 11 o'clock. It also looks like something was wedged between the anvil die and collar right under the " Cud"...seems pushed up on rim there. Now that's a WAG!

Yes, we definitely need some of the experts to chime in. But, it is a Holiday weekend so they are probably with their families.

An image of the reverse on that area might be helpful.
