This came out of a roll a week or two ago when I pulled two 1998 WAMs from one box. Not sure on exact timing, but I got rid of its ugly stepbrother already. Low MS? High AU? Thanks.

[edit] After previewing it at full size, I see more chatter than I did in hand. Yuck.

I'm not good at this but my first thought was AU-58. This is where I find weakness in PCGS Photograde. For Lincoln cents, only Wheat cents are used so I have no reverse comparison at all!

Considering that ignores 50 years of the LMC reverse, maybe they need to separate the two?

Looking at it longer, it may be low MS.

Nice finds, by the way.

Nice find Druu. Question: are the bottom steps right of center worn flat or is that from the strike as far as you can tell?

Color there is shiny red copper, so steps are a striking issue. If it was wear, I'd expect to see bare zinc on the zincoln! There does seem to be some minor discoloration that I can see in hand if I tilt the coin around.
Rest in Peace

Hit to forhead loses eye appeal factor and I do see discoloration. I'm in the camp that it is a circulated coin, no MS values applied, someone had to put it into roll mixed with other USED cents, therefor ...touched by human hands. Verdict:

AU-55, tops.
