Hi everyone! First time poster; I just got this coin back from PCGS and was wondering how you'd all grade it. I'm new to the hobby and graded this one wrong... just trying to improve!   Edited by Procrustes 04/21/2017 2:45 pm

I do not see an MS coin there, I would venture a 55 Hopefully a 58

 I would also say AU55/58. Also, why don't you wait couple of days until you reveal it, so more members can participate.

 I'm at au53. There is no luster, but also not a lot of wear. There are a lot of scratches and marks especially in the obverse fields. A nice strike and great eye appeal. It would be 55 if it had fewer marks in the fields. A very pretty, scarce civil war coin that I would love to have in my collection.

I don't think it's cleaned, all the fields look natural as they fade into the devices, but I do reduce my grade opinion from 58 to 53.

If it graded AU50 sounds fair and a 53 would be no surprise. The burn (solder?) marks on both sides of the obverse could have resulted in a no-grade though.
