I drove out to see the local Bay State Coin Show last Friday. Nothing overwhelming but it was nice to see a few old friends anyway. As usual though I did find more things than I had budgeted for ......
This "working class" income of mine can be a real hindrance to eternal bliss !
Last week (as previously shown) a real 'fatso' came waddling in through my mail slot. A dupondius of Nero tipping the scales at 18.33 grams. I have never purchased, never mind remember seeing one so fat ! By comparison my Didius Julianus sestertius which has a 'normal' weight of 25.75 grams is usually found in a reduced state of 18.5 grams !
Overweight Nero Dupondius (Lyon)

To maintain a well balanced collection I adopted this "teeny" fellow for a not too unreasonable price.

Outside of "unofficial" or otherwise irregular types such as those of Postumus .......
This is the smallest Roman dupondius I remember seeing !
I could ill afford the expense but will just have to jettison something else to justify the money spent.
Such is life
