I know I've been running you guys ragged but this will be the last sld for awhile. I don't make a purchase without hearing opinions from you all. Same drill as always... grade, eye appeal and surface originality - whatever comments are always greatly appreciated.

Now that one looks really tiptop Mike. Like the evenness of color, seems original state. Great strike on obverse, minor ding below right stars is noticeable, nice clear crisp detasil. Reverse is OK strike, seems weaker at 12 to 2 o'clock on letters, but very good detail, fields clear. I have no idea of grade, wouldn't be surprised to find out its MS 62 or better. Good luck if you get it!

High end AU and cleaned a long time ago. (What's with the "fog" around some of the stars on the obverse and around the eagle on the reverse?)

If I saw this "fog" on a Morgan dollar I would steer clear as this is a sign of over-dipping. Unfortunately cleaning coins wasn't always frowned upon. Back in the day collectors used to "Dip" their coins to clean them. Not too sure what they used but some collectors got "Dip Happy" and their coins tend to have this appearance. IMO that is what happened to this coin.

Considering the catalog value for that coin I wouldn't go for it unless it were in a PCGS or NGC holder. The best pictures still aren't as good as an "in hand" evaluation by a pro.

AU58. I think this was struck with early state dies that imparted prooflike surfaces that appear to have developed an unattractive cloudy toning. Surfaces show many bagmarks. Looks like it may have been lightly dipped. I like it.
