Hi I am new to all this so I apologise now if I am doing something wrong, but I am here to learn.
I have started to sort through my fathers coin and medal box and have come across this medal. I have no idea where it is from and was hoping that someone might recognise at least what country it is from and possibly what it is for.

It could be the Hindu deity Lord Ganesh, hard to tell with that amount of wear on the one sure identifying mark. Does he appear to have an elephant's trunk? If so it will be Ganesh. Do you know what the metal is?

@Bob489, first welcome to CCF. Second, India is a possibility, but based on the year (2033 BS or roughly 1976 AD), I'm leaning more toward Nepal. Hopefully, a few more eyeballs on your post will help get you closer to an attribution for this token.

Hi
Thank you for your replies so far they have been helpful in pointing me in the areas to research but unfortunately my googling has not solved the mystery.
The wear is around the nose area but I do not think it is Lord Ganesh.
I do not know what the metal is apart from being silver in colour with a diameter of 39mm and weighs 18.9g.

This looks like a token issued commemorating fifth anniversary celebrations of anointing the idol of Sri.Swaminarayana Gaadi. This is written in Devanagari script on one side.It was issued in 2033.B.E and its AD date of issue is 12/10/1977 written in Gujarati numerals. Below the seated idol, it is written in Devanagari script "Sri.Swaminarayana Gaadi Maninagar".
There is a city called Maninagar in Gujarat. It could be possible that it is from that state of India.

1- Sri Swami Narayan Gaadi
2-"Panchama varsheeya Mahotsav" (fifth anniversary celebration)
3-"Sa.2033.Bha.Va" (2033 Bharat Varsh)
4-12-10-77
