What is going on with this coin and seller. This listing shows an MS61 1800 bust dollar. One problem, that coin is not even close to mint state. Not even close! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800-1-MS61...AOSwmLlX-0oWThere are three pictures of the coin including a slab picture in the description. Now here is where this gets interesting....The same seller is selling a VF30 NGC 1800 bust dollar with the same photos. Only there is not a slab picture on this listing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800-1-VF30...AOSwNRdX-0hgIm wondering if someone delicately replaced the coin that was originally graded. VF30 seems reasonable, but the picture of this coin in an MS61 slab with ANACS screams a tampered holder to me.

This is yet another example of why I think coin imaging should always be included in the grading and slabbing process.

Hey Red, I loved (?) scrolling through this dude's barfalicious web page, what hokey graphics, besides the "L@@K", OMG, that was painful! BTW, even said he has an 1804...so do I...all three top are fake rest are MS/PF

If I did this right - it seems only ONE graded in MS61 - but couldn't find a picture of the actual coin, definitely not the one that is in that auction!

The slab picture in the first listing is photoshopped. Look at the lower right corner of the slab... Quote: Pictures do not reveal the radiant beauty of our items. I'll say, even the doctored ones. Policy violation?

I put a post about this in the Counterfeit forum - this listing needs to be removed.

WOW, thanks NSS for sharing. I have an 1855/54 that is NGC graded at AU53. The coin looks to be a VF35 and not a AU53 (I am not complaining). Here is a picture of it, what do you think?

I think the half dollar graded above is pretty close to what I'd grade it. Lots of shield line/hair/dress detail and sharp Liberty. Definitely not VF for me.

And the seller has 100% positive feedback... Wow.

Quote: Great sleuthing as always, nss-52. I just illustrated what spruett001 first noticed in an earlier post, and added a side-by-side to show the poor photo editing.

If you move this to the counterfeit forum, maybe bobby can help get this taken down!
