It may be possible to have a little added value as long as that is documented and identified as such.

Spatch, first welcome to the forum.

If you are referring to a #1 on a COA, then you need to understand how these are put together, the mint has the 1000 coins minted, then they are placed into the packaging, then the COA is added to the packaging. In these 3 different aspects of packaging, what is the actual possibility you have "THE" first one off the dies? Pretty low.

If you are talking about some sort of first day packaging then maybe.

I believe if the coin is of some sort of significance the first one off the line may be removed and given to either a museum or some other important person.

Please share which coin has a mintage of 1000 and how you came about getting the first one minted. Photos of the coin would be greatly appreciated.

If it is slab that says 1 or 1000, be aware that on may things like this ALL of the slabs say 1 of a thousand. Also in many cases when the 1000 runs out they do another 1000 all saying 1 of a thousand.

Historically mints used to keep #1. I am aware the Royal Australian Mint used to for many of the earlier coin releases. When these went for auction, they went more than their original prices.

Of course, many would argue that people would buy just the coin, not packaging but it's up to the next buyer to decide how much they would want to pay.

Nice one!

spatch!

Beautiful. Thanks for the pic. Would I personally pay a premium for a "#1"? NO

Are there those that would? Probably so.
