*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***What would be the best way for a friend to liquidate these 2 coin items left to him ? Should I take it to a major show and see what I could get for him or should he try to sell it on ebay ? Any other suggestions appreciated. Does anyone have a clue as to the ~ value here ?

The set retails for $125 if I'm not mistaken, and the boxed nickel dollar is worth $5-$10. You might get $50 or $60 from a dealer. Check out sold listings on ebay to see what they sell for there. Good luck!

The first set, the proof sterling quarters from 1992, are worth about $85CAD retail. Issue price was $129. You'd be lucky to get $50 (melt value) at a show IMO or at a dealer so ebay might be the way to go. Recent sold prices on ebay range from $56-102. It's a taxable item when sold by dealers etc. so they can be a tough sell. There were 84,397 of these sets produced. The second coin appears to be nickel 1982 Constitution dollar. Colonial acres have it for sale at $7.85. https://www.colonialacres.com/produ...titution.htm

That 1992 proof 25c set is still one of my favourite NCLT sets... I have a set tucked away, just because I love it so much...
Bring this stuff to Coin Expo DEVLEC...

The 1992 Canada 125 proof set is one of my favorites as well. Strong designs and well executed. I definitely enjoy having the set in my collection.

Yup, very nice coins that show all of the details of these designs.
I'm constantly stuck by how much nicer coins from the past were. Quality was off the charts compared to recent issue.

Quote: The first set, the proof sterling quarters from 1992, are worth about $85CAD retail. I too have admired this set as well as the two millennium proof sets that were far to expensive for me at the time of issue. Thankfully after numerous bids in auctions and a little patience, I bought the 1992 set last year for under $90 taxes included. Soon after I picked up the 1999 & 2000 sets for a combined $160.00. Point is while they're not worth near the issue price now, you might get a buyer willing to pay a little more as it ties in with Canada's 150th.
