I have 2 one dollar bills with the same serial number including the suffix and prefix letters, different series of course. Serial number is totally a random number; not low or fancy. No rea son for them to be saved. One is series 1993; other is 2009. PMG graded 30 and 35; indicating both were taken from circulation. Seems that the 1993 series would have been worn out and destroyed before the 2009 series came along. There are 99,999,999 different numbers, 12 different prefix letters, and a possible 24 different suffix letters (No O or Z). I am wondering what are the odds of these 2 bills coming together. Would seem to be a near impossibility.

It is unusual, although some collectors look for them. Same serial number, same prefix letter, same suffix letter but different series (1977-1981) Edited to add; Welcome to CCF Bill

I have 2 and have sold 3 matching numbers, but they were all low numbers or radar numbers (a reason for them being saved). The number on my 2 bills is C40901138A. No reason to save this number. If my math is correct, with 99,999,999 numbers, 12 prefix letters, and be conservative and say only 10 different suffix letters, if you took a random dollar bill, and looked through one million other dollar bills, your odds of finding a match would still be nearly 1 in 12,000. As I said, if my math is correct.

If I'm reading the Series 1977 $1.00 notes Plate Position correctly, and it is A3, is a switched plate position Serial Number error...
The assigned Serial Number for Plate Position A3 on sheet #12 should be H00320012B on a 20K Sheet Run...
