Nothing for me yet. I looked at some of the early dollars in my price range but most had issues. Capped bust halves weren't all that impressive. Seated dollars were mostly ms coins and the ones that weren't had been cleaned. Early copper was ok if you're a millionaire. The Sunday internet show looks better.

Super coin Andrew! I don't even consider gld buys at this point. Maybe I should. I'm too worried that the price of gold is in a long-term downtrend.

Which Chicago shows are you referring to? There are about 3 or more a Month in the Chicago area.

I was down to two IHC's needed to complete my set. MFD found one of them (he looks for coins good for the grade). So I'll be getting an 1889 IHC graded MS-64 Red; I suspect it'll be PCGS. That just leaves me waiting for an 1897 IHC.

Nice scoop on that dollar! I picked up a few coins this time around (all Seated halves), this one is probably the nicest:

I live about 2 1/2 hours from Chicago... I may need to save up and convince the wife to go to a show again (last time I went was the World Fair when it was there). If that does happen I will have to also fit in an Ikea trip...

That's a nice one Procrustes! What's the grade on her? @Mister Kairu, you can skip the expensive Ikea trip if you set up a Heritage account. Just tell the wife you're trying out a new fantasy poker site.

Quote: I bought this original sld for only $505. I think the darkness of the coin turned off other collectors. I like it.

Thanks Jbuck! Still scratching my head as to why it sold so cheap. I think the under bidder fell asleep at the switch or maybe it's the old ANACS slab. I may crack it out and sent it in to PCGS. The way grading standards are headed these days I might get back an au-53.

It is one of the two holes I have left in it.
