I'm having fun collecting coins from 1700's to modern era, that are in French. There are a lot of colonies and territories with coins. The coins tell an interesting story, about the time and place they come from.

Welcome! I like your collection theme; that's a neat one. I don't have the strongest grasp of history but coins have really bolstered that. Just recently did a lot of reading about the French Mandate of Lebanon after being surprised when I got a French coin from there!
Rest in Peace

While that isn't my area of interest, I am always pleasantly surprised to learn of themes that are new to me.

Welcome!

One of the coolest places I learned about while doing French language coins is Saint Pierre and Miquelon. It's a French collectivity off the coast of Newfoundland. It's in North America, surrounded by Canada, and just a few miles from Maine. It's the closest place to the United States where the Euro is official currency, has French national gendarmerie, and is governed by France. I never knew.

edit: oh, and it has its own coin, too (well, in 1948)
