I'm around 2.5 for each of these coins. Weaker reverse on the 1892, weaker obverse on the 1893 O. Wish I could switch 'em! (And are we going to details the second coin because of the obv scratch?)

92 obv too strong (date)
93 obv has a scratch problem
both are hairlined which would preclude 'honest wear' whatever that is. would need to wear down the hairlines.

I am thinking:

1) AG-3, possibly Details.
2) It might make AG-3, but Details.

I knew they can't make PO1, but I thought maybe FR2. I see a FR2 side and AG3 side to each coin, and I wasn't sure how they would net grade. I stumbled across the PCGS Barber quarter lowball registry earlier, and the top set has quite a few FR2 coins mixed in: https://www.PCGS.com/SetRegistry/lo...dset/132922.

How do I create the appearance of "honest wear"? Not knowing any of this, I'm guessing pocket piece it -- but how does one use a pocket piece? That thread has people carrying one coin or a number of coins. Would manually rubbing with a cloth get rid of the hairlines, or just add more?

In my opinion ... both would certify as AG - Details. Not even close to a legitimate, problem free lowball state. Way too much detail left and both coins have 'issues' that would prevent a straight grade.

Vinny Kid (the #1 Barber quarter lowball set) has been constantly downgrading his set with the goal of all coins PO01.

There has never been a lowball registry set with all members certified PO01. Mike Hoyman got the closest with his amazing set of Morgan dollars ... all coins PO01 with the sole exception of his 1893-S which was certified FR02.
