nessa52010 New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 05/08/2017 02:17 am Hello, I have a question about this coin I've read some about the two types of coins made for this year one being specially made for Kellogg I believe. I am new to the Coin World and would like if someone could take a look at the one I have and possibly give an opinion on the gold dollar I have and what I should definitely be looking for to know whether I have the valuable gold dollar for that year or not. I am also new and have learned more in just a few days than I have the past few years.. What you are referring to is the Cherrios Sacagawea dollar.. the special version will have much more details in the tail feathers.. most notable in the two feathers coming out below the feet.. see the attached image.. hope this helps Report this Post to the Staff

It is not made of gold. It is valuable because they were minted early with a different design. Approximately 5,500 were minted, but the number that survived is unknown. Report this Post to the Staff

The interesting thing on this is looking for the Wide AM variety and with the reverse not being shown you don't know until the LC is removed so I guess if you found one still attached Uncirculated condition and it was WAM then it would be worth more but by how much I don't know. So Value is with it's uncirculated condition and possible WAM. This is just the info I have on them, but the others here can probably provide you with some more info on them. Druu Pillar of the Community United States 1000 Posts	Posted 05/08/2017 5:40 pm I believe some TPGs will certify a "Cheerios cent" if you submit the coin intact in the cardboard insert. You can find them in original packaging for around five dollars on ebay. There is nothing special about them -- they are the normal circulation strike for that year. The uniqueness of the Cheerios dollar is due to the usage of a reverse die for that minting alone. It's true that you might end up with a 2000 WAM, but they're the cheapest of the WAM cents, and you can find uncirculated ones for around seven or eight dollars on ebay. Bottom line: don't gamble on buying unopened "Millenios" unless you know there's a Sacagawea dollar in the box. (I looked into this briefly when I had ebay credit to spend that couldn't be used in the coin category. There were two or three "unopened" boxes listed.) Report this Post to the Staff
