Hello, first post. Please be gentle. I also hope I am posting in the correct forum, if not then I apologise in advance.

My Mother-in-Law recently passed away and whilst we were clearing out her house I came across the following coin.

Need-Help---Coin-Identification

Need-Help---Coin-Identification

I think it may be a half crown coin, but I am not 100% sure. Obviously, it's not in the best of condition and I assume it's blackened throughout the years due to the silver content. Can anyone please confirm what this coin is and if it's actually worth anything at all?

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry for your loss.
Shilling - not half crown. Worth about $5.

Thanks and thanks for identifying the coin. I'll probably just hang onto that then. I found that along with a lot of 5 Franc coins too. I'm not too sure why she kept them all this time and how she came about obtaining the shilling in the first place.

Thanks again, much appreciated.
