Unless it has a high grade or you need it for a collection, it sounds like a spender to me.

Until this year pennies did not have mint marks when minted in Philidelphia. The penny you have is worth approximately 1 cent.

Oh yeah, the no mint=P I know. I'm trying to understand the scarcity/value add in keeping certain mints in regards to small vs large vs zinc, bronze, copper.

From the results of a my survey a few years ago, I would recommend saving shiny 1982 SDC, SDZ, LDZ-D, and SDZ-D for a few decades (+), and test the market demand then.

The results of my survey were a little inconclusive, due to the apparent regionally biased (statistically skewed) distribution of the 1982 one-cent.

OK, somebody set me straight, pleez. I always thought that the mint changed a design feature on a coin when there was a "major" change in the composition of the coin (i.e., copper to Cu/Zn). Is this the case? If so, why didn't they strike the copper cents with the large date and zinc with the small date? Too much trouble keeping track? No one cared (or cares for that matter)?

Or, maybe it was the fact that a new master die was created... I read about that a few minutes ago. What exactly determines the change in the size of the date?

Those 1982 Cents are fun to collect. Any of them. I probably have several hundred not even sorted out yet for large, small dates and Cu or whatever those other ones are.
