I was out on a walk with my wife. Lo and behold I found a penny on the sidewalk. I told my wife that it was a 2017 and that the mintmark was D. I even told her that mintmark told you where the coin was made. Asked her if she knew what the D signified. She wracked her brain for a few moments then opined.....Denmark?

It's o.k. I didn't marry her for her numismatic knowledge.

But I'm sure she's a lovely lady regardless!

Guess that's not as bad as me and my dad thinking we struck it rich when he got a Mercury dime in change.

The amazing thing is that THEY married US, even knowing we were numismatists. After all, I could be retailing adderall in the community center parking lot and be more respectable.

Sounds exactly like my wife. She gives zero cares about coins.

I've recently gotten into numismatics and she (my wife) actually has a longer history with it. I recently found and sold an error quarter. Guess who brought it to me.
Numismatics is universal.
Edit: I suggest not making fun of your wife.

I knew my wife a couple of years before we started dating . I new that she was semi into coins , one day I sold her a bunch of wheat cents for $25 . A year after that we got married and those Wheaties were back in my collection . 39 years later ,we are both very much into this hobby .

My wife has told me in no uncertain terms that next time she advertises for a husband (we met online), she will put right in her profile that coin collectors need not apply.

My husband doesn't share my enthusiasm, but we do agree on which designs are beautiful and which are not. Most of the time.

I'm not making fun of my wife. Just stating a fact that she has zero interest, and that's ok.

My wife occasionally grants me a "that's pretty" if a design catches her fancy, and she thinks it's cool when I reach a milestone, but her hobbies are elsewhere and I think she's beautiful for it :)
PS - she even married me when my children are three little parrots. Yeah, she's that amazing. Married a guy into coins, birds, and sharks teeth. I definitely went out of my league with her!
