Alright, a month or two back if you recall, I dived in head first and really got into the Nickels and Pennies. And now I'm nearly finished Special thanks to everyone who helped me out, either through trades or with the information provided on here. I owe you one guys! With your help, I set out and accomplished my goal, but alas! The coinbug strikes again! It time to add some dimes and quarters to my collection I'm organizing the handful I have picked up through my pocket change and trades, and came across the 2001 Dime (from andre I thinks?) with the Volunteers reverse. Stunning design, I think its my favorite Canadian that I've come across so far. My question basically is--Is this the only reverse for that year? Or was the standard Bluenose released as well? Probably a dumb question I know, but what else are you guys good for? thanks in advance, --Gary

Thanks Steve What about the 2006 with the RCM logo? Are there two versions of each coin (one with one without)?

According to my Charlton's catalogue, there was a 2001P 10c with the Bluenose reverse, mintage 46.2M. The volunteer reverse had a mintage of 224M. For 2006, there were also two 10c coins...one with the RCM logo (only in the First Day package) and a circulation issue without the RCM logo of 312M.

Hi, Gary, There were two 2001 Ten Cent coins issued, One was the Volunteers, which you have. The other was the Bluenose design, which is kind of the scarce one.

Hi GFR,
I come across both fairly regularly. I see the Volunteer one more than the bluenose, but I come across both all the time.

i looked at Charlton before I answered because I thought there were 2 reverses, but it did not have any info on the bluenose design in the ten cent section... I have the latest version of the book - what page is that on.

Steve, It is on page 85, in the 2008 62nd Edition of the Charlton, you will see, as Kurt said, there was 46,265,000 of the Bluenose minted.
There was 224,714,000 of the Year of the Volunteer minted. As you can see there were quite a few more of the latter.

Steve, yeah...I thought you had a Charlton's because you had the designer of the volunteer reverse. That said, Charlton's is rather tough to pin down mintages on more recent issues, particularly the confusing "collector coin" section.

i'll have to look at the book again - stupid allergies are kicking my butt and I probably looked right at it and didn't realize what it was telling me due in part to the bargain brand meds. there goes my dreams of being a professional numismatist - can't even read a book ;)

Is that only for the nickel or are there 3 pennies, dimes, and quarters as well?

The penny has four varieties:
2006 (no mintmark): 886 million 2006P: 233,000 (yep, you read that right! 233 THOUSAND!) 2006RCM copper plated zinc: 176 million 2006RCM copper plated steel: 133 million
The dime and quarter have two (the 2006 no-P were only issued in proof)

223,000!?!? Can you see Key-Date? heheh
So penny has 4, nickel 3, dime 2, quarter 2?
Also, I found a 2000 Quarter a few days back with the wreath and FAMILY on it. I looked it up and found there are 24 Quarters for 99/00--are this all for circualtion, like the 50 State Program in the US? Or are this Commemorative (forgot the spelling)? or some combination there of? Are there any that are rarer or more-common than the others?
you guys are the best, --gary
