I found this Jefferson nickel 2016P with what looks like doubling in the words UNITED STATES. But after more studying, I thinks it's just an example of Die Deterioration Doubling ( DDD). As I'm still new to coin collecting will someone with more experience please confirm my observation?.

Without a photo, it's impossible to see what you're describing.

I would agree with the DDD.

Wear on the die usually shows toward the rim first. When they don't retire it soon enough, it progresses.

I agree with Die Deterioration. (note the 'U') But here are a few DDR's on UNITED so you can get an idea what a DD on these devices could look like. 1960 PR 1962 PR 1964 PR coophome= DDR 5C UNITED

Hi COOP and CoinMasters,
I thank you both for taking the time to educate a newbie. It's greatly appreciated. Finding and appropriately identifying DDs are more challenging than I realized. Searching has been fun, addicting and frustrating. Some day maybe I'll find and correctly identify one of these elusive coins.
Until then, i'll keep on searching!

When you do find your first one, you will kick yourself for looking so hard. They leap out at you when you spot one and you will know it is a doubled die. The right coin has not come under your glass yet.

I don't know how you're doing it now, maybe just checking change? If so, you can get that "right one under your glass" a lot sooner by going to the bank and trading cash for rolls of coins. There are varieties and errors that you are probably not yet aware of, so keep anything that looks different and post it. You'll be pleasantly surprised what you'll learn here.
