Tom, great pick up, however weight alone does not guarantee these are 80%, and if you tried to sell these nobody would pay 80% prices. there are only 2 ways to verify the silver content, either an xrf, or by using the specific gravity test.

regardless of the outcome, the best you will get is 65%

Tom: Standard operating for '67 material is that since the quarters could be 50% or 80% they just split the difference and pay around 65% and put all the quarters in one big bucket to be sent off.

With respect to the specific gravity test you can use it to determine what material a coin is made out of..... it's very helpful when you have coins that may have been lined with gold or silver but have another metal inside that has a very similar mass like tungsten.

You could use it to determine the difference between 50% and 80% quarters but you're still going to get paid the same.. so unless you're melting it down yourself for a different project it may just be wasted time.

Yeah I knew most times you will sell for centennials they will sell for less than the years with 80%. I just was curious why the RCM page says 5.05 for 50% & 5.83 for 80% are those not correct?

Anyways thanks everyone, was a great deal either way and probably will end up holding them for awhile.

Atleast I found one die chip error (no foot near 7)& Rotated die error with maybe 2 others, but hard to say.

Will also keep the nice ones for my collection!
