Hey,

I'm looking to upgrade my Morgan dollar (MS NGC 63). I'm on a limited budget, and looking for a new beautiful coin (will trade my current one). I know DMPL looks better, but I'm trying to decide if PL is still worth it? Trying to figure out which way to go, it's a difference of $100 or so.

It depends on the PL coin. There are some PL coins that have strong mirrors and frosty devices and look very much like a DMPL.

You should really need to closely examine the coin in hand that you may be considering, before making a decision to buy.
It has a lot to do with eye appeal vs how much you wish to pay.

Don't get too hung on the labels. DMPL, PL, Toned, Rainbow....

Your main goal should be to buy original, problem-free coins that YOU like at the lowest prices possible without getting sellers too mad. IMO. I have several PL Morgans and I'm happy with them. I don't need to shell out another $100 for two additional letter, DM. (unless really, really DMPL)

That way, you are happy, the sellers should be ok, and you can post your new buys here at CCF.

I would wait for a nice certified DMPL that is priced right. They will alway be in demand in case you ever want to move on or use it in a trade.

I would try and get a really frosty Carson City Morgan. These coins are always in demand and not all are rare. The DMPL is like looking for Full Head coins.
