Okay this is a coin I wouldn't mind having idea where it would grade. (I know if it's under MS-65 it wouldn't be worth it.)

Just curious, since this is the nicest 1970 I have found and will help me gage others I find down the road.

Cheers!

I'd say somewhere around MS-62/MS-63.

MS 60
The coin has no wear but so many dings scratches and gouges that it falls into the lowest MS grade
The date and legends on the reverse have taken a severe beating, the A in regina on the obverse is nearly obliterated, and the scratches and gouges on the Queen are unsightly..
Improper storage and handling of this coin have rendered it non-collectible...
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I'll say ms 63 luster is highly undisturbed

Thanks a lot everyone helps me look for better coins in future roll hunts.

@DBM Yeah I seen those marks after I blew the pictures up on my computer, was thinking since as Alan said lots of it's luster is still there maybe would be higher.

But still helps me check for those tiny marks that might lower the grade on a coin. Cheers!

I didn't notice that at first, now I'm more in the ms60 camp with what dbm pointed out I agree, but could be one of those ms62 sliders maybe.

So, what caused that? Wear or damage or something else?

@DBM I find your conclusion rather hasty. You said "severe beating" but, I've seen a lot worse (much worse). Maybe that's hyperbolic?

Take another look and explain what you are seeing. That would be more helpful.

I did noticed some 1970 nickels did have a Deteriorated die on legend. But don't know if this would be classified as deteriorated or it's just damaged from circulation.

Atleast I have an idea what to look out for when coin roll hunting & what might drop a couple grades. Thanks everybody!

The Queen's neck has several distracting scratches and the obverse field suffers from chatter. MS-60
