1954 S LWC Loop Of The "9"

The loop of the "9" looks thicker than normal... any ideas? I have three of these and think it might just be the beginning Die Deterioration but was hoping for some opinions.

Maybe a die chip ?

It looks like a Die crack

You can see the chip forming on the "nipple" of the 9 on that die...won't be long before it completely shears off to become a "filled" 9 variety.
