
There can be no such thing as extra metal on a coin. The planchets are the same weight, the strike controls where where metal flows. The mint mark, die chips,
Cuds do not add weight. The weight is the planchets weight. They can be less, when the coin wears, thinned planchets, acid dipping and incomplete planchets. But missing parts of the die do not add to the weight to the coin. The only way this could happen is if part of the die was struck into the coin. Then it would be magnetic.
