Sorry but I have no idea what that means.
It means that I wasn't able to find them anywhere near where they used to be, and didn't realize the little circles in the corner of the image were the rotations until I tried clicking them.

Quote:
For the purpose of the optimizer, that is irrelevant.
It is now; in the old version it was often the case that the width was over 2000 pixels but the height wasn't.
In principle, one could have similar problems now if their camera makes photos over 8000 pixels wide, but that should be fairly rare, and in any case such photos could probably be safely downsized a bit before cropping anyway.

Quote:
I upped the max so they can be set back large for cropping. Didn't think of that. Any final image though over 1200 is serious overkill and completely unnecessary.
Thanks! And maybe, depends on the screen - on some modern screens 600 pixel images would look tiny.

There most certainly is.
Thanks for adding it! But I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I checked (maybe it just hadn't been added yet).

Files should have unique names anyway. That's just common sense. If you upload the same file name the same day you will overwrite previous one anyway. The optimizer just adds -opt to the end of the original name so you don't overwrite your original when you download.
When I checked, it didn't even do that - it just provided me an "unnamed" file. I might have been downloading in the wrong way, however (again, no instruction).
Works now, thanks! A bit of a complicated download method though

Sounds to me like you want it to fail.
No, more like I kept finding one problem after another, and didn't really want to play with it more, but was pretty sure I would probably stumble on more problems if I did.

Well if the actual coin is only 300 pixels wide in the image that's all your ever going to get. The optimizer doesn't make anything smaller when you crop. It automatically resizes to 1200 wide by default when you open it but you can now change it back to the original size with a couple of keystrokes. Maybe that was your issue.
Actual coin is ~500 pixels wide in the image, but I wasn't able to change it back to the original size, because the original size was too large. Fixed now (see above).

This optimizer is far and away better than the original, you may just need to get used to it.
Possibly. I tried it now and it was very nice.

One remaining problem is that there's now no indication of upload progress, but since uploads generally appear to be a lot faster now, it might not be that much of a problem. And it's probably too complicated to fix, anyway.

There are several things I like about this one better. I did notice the quicker upload speed and being able to work with multiple images is awesome as well as real-time application of the edit.

I don't know if it's a mobile issue (I do everything with Chrome on Android) but, I couldn't find the rotation function either. I just figured it out though.

I have several other editing apps so generally I only use it for easy resizing to under 300kb.

My only question (and was with the previous optimizer) is: Can the crop box be moved or does it have to be centered?

For instance, if I had a full shot of a Lincoln Cent, can I use this to crop to only showing LIBERTY?

The crop box can definitely be moved, and this is the case both in the old and the new optimizer.

I take most of my coin photos with my smartphone, and occasionally, depending on the lighting and the coin color, I want the coin to be entirely out of the phone's shadow (near the top of the image) or, more rarely, entirely in it (near the bottom of the image).
The optimizer would definitely have sucked if it was not possible to crop photos positioned like that; practically speaking, there's no difference between it and your example, so that should work too.

It would make for a somewhat low-resolution result, however.

You drag the sides of the crop box where you need them. Just like that. Very easy.

(I admit that it might be somewhat more complicated on a mobile browser.)

This new one feels simpler and easier to use than the old one. I was skeptical from the limited controls but I like it.

You can also click and hold in the center of it and move the entire thing.

I like the new image optimizer, it works great on Firefox! Thanks bobby! The only thing I would suggest is adding how to rotate images in the instructions. It took me a little while to figure it out.

I love this forum, but I am so technologically ignorant I have a feeling I'm going to be lost in the shuffle. I have a Nikon image processor (NX 2). It allows me to edit images. I basically have just been cropping them, and then used your old resizer to get to 300 KB. I assume that makes my images hosted? The first step in the new resizer says "Upload Images"? I can't seem to figure out what I have to do differently.

I figured it out. It's nice to be able to do them in multiples.

On Internet Explorer, the download prompt clears the list of uploaded images (returning back to the Washington token).

I found this the hard way - I uploaded four photos, and cropped all of them, before clicking the download button for the first crop, and ended up having to start for scratch for the other three pics.
(Fortunately the whole thing is so fast and convenient that I was able to do them all in like five minutes anyway.)

Haven't checked on Google Chrome yet - maybe there it works properly.

Yeah, does it to me too on IE. I added a note to let people know to only do one at a time. I stopped coding to appease the IE gods years ago, it would be a full time job. Worst browser out there, even Microsoft knows it and abandoned it.

Lazy testing on my part, I did test IE but I most not have tried multiples. Bad webmaster.
