Thats right, I just received a $50 bill yesterday, series 1934. Certianly in fine condition. Just two major folds. The signatures are Julian-Morgenthau. The bank is Philadelphia. Was this a rare find, and should I hang on to it?
Oh, is it worth anything more than face value?
bascically would it be worth trying to sell on the auction on this website?

A Guide Book of US Paper Money (Friedberg and Friedberg) 2006, puts the value at:

VG: 65
F: 70
VF: 75
EF: 85
UNC 63: 225

These values are a bit out of date, of course, and are retail values, not wholesale. I think you got yourself a keeper, personally.

Sometimes I find older bills that are crisp, but the fold lines are so heavy, sometimes to the point of almost being torn. Those were probably someones emergency bills. I sometimes keep one of those in my wallet, problem is I keep having emergencies!

It'll be fun to take all our old bills and have a giant poker game.

It could fetch a premium on ebay but if you don't need to money right now I'd hold onto it for now

Nice find!

However...after all said and done with ebay fees...you might not make a profit considering the condition of the bill

Jeremy,

I have the newest editiion of the friedberg's book at home. I'll see if prices are any different. Doug's ebay listing may be a realistic price. First thing is to see if there is a difference in pricing between Philly and cleveland. From past knowledge, there usually isn't.... I'll check it out tonight for you though.

I will give ya face value for it! Errr... but, You should try to keep it, that is one thing that you might look back when you are older, and regret selling it. When I was younger, I never figured myself to become a coincollecter (and note collector ) but you never know, selling this note might only be worth 50 to 60 dollars, but it increases in value everyday. That is just something cool that you could pass on to your grandchildren some day... It was a really good find tho! Nice Job!
