...but, overall the show was disappointing.

The show, like others we've been hearing about, did not have a lot of "fresh", original, nice material. I looked at virtually every case of every dealer and across most coin series. It was the same old middle of the road stuff. Yeah, perhaps a few things were somewhat interesting, but not anything I'd jump for joy about.

I picked up a few items (take a look in the grading section for pictures). I got 2 3CN, 1 2¢, and a Morgan...yes, unbelievably I bought a common date, common grade Morgan. Why? It just seemed to have very nice eye appeal for the grade, semi-PL to PL surfaces, and an okay strike. The 1865 3CN, ultra common as it is, had a great look and a great price, so I took it. The 1873 had one heck of a superb look and they're a tad less common but not too difficult to find. The 2-cent piece was originally mine, I sold it to this dealer years ago, then I bought it back because of the date...1871. Although, I must admit, I think I overgraded it a tad when I convinced myself to buy it.

I am contemplating whether I should sell any of these, but I'm indifferent at the moment on that.

I find it funny that you bought your coin back. What made your originally sell it and now buy it back?

I'll reveal the grades (at least what I think they are) once people have had a chance to give me their opinions in the grading section. I bought back the 1871 because I liked the surfaces and the date. I sold it back when I was doing some retail dealing at shows and decided to get out of the business (all within about 2 months time frame!). I didn't want to hold onto any of my "stock" at the time. In retrospect, I probably should have kept some material.

Opps, I didn't know they were posted in the grading area. I'll check them out.

Thanks for sharing!
After seeing the Morgan I certainly understand why you were attracted to her. Nice cameo with mirrored fields, I'll bet that coin has a lot of 'pop' in hand. Way nice, Prethen.
Reacquiring old friends like your 1871 is always a pleasure, sometimes it's just meant to happen!
