I finished putting together my Barber dime set a couple of months ago. It's not the prettiest in the world, but it's complete. (~675k images) http://www.jetshack.com/images/barber1.jpghttp://www.jetshack.com/images/barber2.jpgWhen I put my first collection together I had them stored in an old littleton album. Once I got the 95-O I picked up a used Dansco album for $5 and transferred my set into it and put the old littleton album in my ebay drawer. I thought after I finished putting it together and getting it into a Dansco album that I'd be done with these for a while... I had good intentions, I've started on a MS63 or better Roosevelt set which I'm 80% finished with. I've picked up all the moderns from mint cellos. I'm still looking for the 82-83's (Those might take a while) and I'm missing maybe 10 or so of the early silvers. I think I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 years putting together the Barber set, and it looks like the Roosies are only going to take 4 months. Not nearly as meaningful... Anyway, whenever I go to a dealer it never fails that I ask to go through their junk barbers and pull out all the ones with mint marks. I stopped by Royal Coins toady (in Houston) and ended up picking up 25 different mint marked Barbers for $1.50 each. Of the 25 there are 13 different ones. Once I got home I opened up my ebay drawer and pulled out the Barber dime box. The box already had close to 100 dimes in it, most of which are AG with some G and a very few F. I placed the newly acquired coins into the box and was getting ready to place the box back in the ebay drawer when I saw the old littleton album. It was just peaking up at me having been uncovered when I pulled the Barber box out. I couldn't help myself... I had coins, I had an album. Coins like being in albums. And so an hour later the littleton album is more than half full (39). It's a good start as I'm missing several common P dates. I just now realized that I never quit on the Barbers. I was just taking a breather.

Time for upgrades now! Now, you'll kill yourself trying to get decent VF-XF's that don't exist.

Nice set! I'm needing just the 95O to complete mine, but it's such an expensive coin!

I picked the 95-O up 3rd from the end. the 01-S and 03-S were the ones I struggled with as I couldn't find any in AG-G that were what I considered reasonable. I ended up buying the pair for just under $100 in early Feb from a dealer who had 4 or 5 of each. The two I picked up were his worst examples.
When I stumbled across the 95-O in December (at GRCoins.com) of last year for $190 I snatched it up without a second thought as that was ~$100 cheaper than any other place I'd seen.

Very nice ! I haven't yet began an album for mine........getting a small/decent number of them now though and I'm thinking it might be getting time to start one. Finding them in decent grades is going to be an endeavor though !....I don't have many in wonderful condition.....

Considering a mintage of 24 and less than 10 survivors, it would be really dumb for an album to have a slot for an 1894-S, about as useless as a slot for a 1913 Liberty nickel.

I have been working on my Barber dime set for almost six years now and as Prethen stated problem free VF - XF examples are VERY difficult to locate. Barber coinage was the workhorse of its time and therefore circulated heavily. Congradulations Springcypress on your completed set !

Problem free, full-liberty Barber dimes are indeed tough to locate. New to this forum....actually back to coin collecting after twenty years of chasing fish.....After sprucing up my lincoln's, merc's and buff's I had put together in late 70's/early 80's, I chose Barber coins as my next project....Have had a blast. The Barber Coin Collectors Society is conducting a dime census....submissions are due by April 30th. http://www.barbercoins.org/Glad I found this forum....Off to a small show tomorrow (25-30 tables).... Congrats on completing your set...
