I don't have any answers but, I'm interested in seeing what others say.

I assume it's a Zincoln. That's all I have.

Your coin was struck on a split planchet, you can see the metal grain on the reverse which is the split side. I would guess that it weights around 1.5-2 grams, very nice error

I agree that it was likely stuck on a split planchet.

What's odd though is how fully struck the reverse is, which is more consistent with a Grease Filled Die with a ghost image( http://www.error-ref.com/ghost-imag...d-by-grease/ )

I'd like the weight and thickness to be completely sure

Planchet shenanigan's pre strike. Weight would be handy for future reference. I'm still looking for the thinnest and or lightest cent planchet coin ever struck. Thanks, Doug.

Not PMD. It looks like a coin from the 1960's era. Nice, where did you get it?

I'm guessing 196X. I think I see a curl of a 6 after the 9.

Congratulations. That is a seriously fun and attractive error. What did ANACS list it as?

52raymo: Nice to know exactly what it is, now get rid of that silly ICG slab!

BTW, I learned years ago as a telephone tech from the "Best Salesman in the World" (his terms), that the key to explaining anything to the "uniformed" is to "Baffle them with bull***", did it work?

BTW x 2: My "Day Job" is here on the forum!
