It's just been corroded from spending some time on the ground

Well there is a copper plating on the planchet, but the zinc would actually rot worse than the copper.

I know that lol but this coin has no copper on it I think the blank wasn't plated before circulation

Well it should have mint luster if it was struck on an unplated planchet. It's possible to remove the copper plating via chemicals. It would really be impossible to tell you for sure without in hand inspection I believe

hmm I see that is hard to tell even in hand with age if I'm not mistaking. this coin was in circulation when I found it I also got a 1943 P nickle with the same change. so I'm really confused about it I wish someone was nearby who could tell me for sure

Yeah, just environmental damage.

Yeah, there's really no way to tell through pics unless it was a mint state example.
Weight won't tell you anything really because of how little copper is used in plating them (about 0.06g)
I believe that this is environmental damage.
