Fine sharpness, but environmental damage and probably cleaned.

The pictures are not very informative, and the thing that concerns me is authenticity. The Chinese make just about anything, including early copper, and one of their tricks is to "corrode" a copper coin and clean it.

I'm not saying the coin is a counterfeit. I can't see enough in those photos to confirm or deny that, but don't assume that it's real. Post some good pictures for us.

will attempt to take better pics when it arrives. I see a little verdigris in spots but not a lot of pitting or rim issues. $40 bucks was a decent gamble on it I felt.

98% maybe greater even of Classic Head Large Cents are corroded or come with significant problems. Those can be easily obtained. I doubt this is in the top 2%.

not claiming a home run but the coin looked better than most in that price range on e-bay to me.

It's a lot of coin for $40 imho.
