I'm going through numerous stacks of proof sets (1966 - 1995). Is there a year in which I should keep my eyes out for varieties and/or errors?

Thanks,
Jim

1970-S small date cent, 1990 no S cent, 1999-S Close AM cent, 1971 no S nickel, 1968, 1970, 1983 no S dimes, and 1979 and 1981 Type 2 sets(SBAs are the money coins here). Also, if looking at 1966 and 1967 SMS sets, look for cameo coins. Proof struck-throughs and die cracks also have a bit of premium too.

1971S DDO cent, 1998S Close AM cent, many 1970S proof DDO cents (to include a small date/large date), 1968S proof DDO cent, 1972S proof DDO cent.

The Lincoln Cent in the 1981S type 2 set is a money coin too.

There's all that plus anything that might not have yet been discovered. ONLY looking for what's known limits you to ONLY finding what's known. Broaden your horizon and you might discover something new.

On older sets, check all Ikes for thick looking IN GOD WE TRUST mottoes. Some will actually have notches. there are a number of DDOs and DDRs possible.

Check all Kennedys especially 1966 and 1972 for die doubling. Check the serifs of the W on WE as a place to start.

Check 1968 Nickels for a whopper RPM.

Have Fun,
Bill

Thank you, too, FIR...I scoped every set before I sold them. I still have about 200 proof sets from 1957 - 2000. So much work, so little time.
