here's one of my pick ups from the expo..i only left with a few coins so chances are you'll see them all get a thread sooner or later, especially as 2 of them will be posted for you vs ICCS threads in the somewhat near future. also note the second obverse picture, the one with an angle, is to show the hairline like graze behind the king, which in hand is nearly completely unnoticeable..it is the only significant flaw present aside from a very minor spot under the chin which isn't an issue and isn't as prominent in hand either. I say it is the only significant flaw present because I have not been able to find any other ones but haven't been able to look over the coin with extreme scrutiny yet as my magnifier is currently missing. also, apologies for the crappy pics, they are the best I can pull off and really don't do this thing justice! without further adieu, possibly my favorite of the group that came home with me from expo.. MS 65 ...as I only see a flick down in the obv field from the N to the P behind the head.
The rev "V" looks great with these pics..

i'd also like to note all the other spots etc that you see are on the holder...also what could be mistaken as rub and luster breaks on the base of the bust, eye brow and cheek are just areas where the strike wasn't completely full..they stand out much more because of the cameo on the coin.

Please post better photos of the reverse. The obverse is showing some great detail and what I can only describe as SP rims on a nickel. Definitely a nice find, and one I still need in my collection.these days the way grading it going, I would guess it would make SP65

with Nikon, SP60 Quote: areas where the strike wasn't completely full..they stand out much more That and the significantly off-center strike make this one sub-par by a mile. Imagine this coin was presented to a high ranking Russian official at the end of his visit to the mint. (such was the purpose of specimen strikes) On his way back to the embassy he buys a newspaper, receives a nickel in change and notices the shiny new one the newsboy gives up without a thought is so well struck and centered, his gift has been an insult from his ally, fuel to start the Cold War.

i wouldn't say this coin is sub par.. it isn't off center..the obverse die is just slightly misaligned..it is actually quite interesting and unusual on a specimen. and the areas of weakness aren't an issue..they are easily observed on other examples..it is a common occurrence, check PCGS's pop report..their finest example, an SP-67 has an identically 'weak' strike which consists of just a lack of frosting at the very highest points. I'm not sure why either of these occurrences on this obviously very clean, attractive coin would downgrade it to an SP-60 grade
