Need Some Help With A 1997 D Nickel.....

TNG Bedrock of the Community United States 10284 Posts	Posted 06/20/2017 12:31 am I'm interested in the mintmark. I don't have any info but that is a very odd D. If it were a nickel from the 1950's people would be saying stuff like it's a D over S but in this case, the S is a proof die and that seems unlikely. Must be a damaged die but it is pretty neat. Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 06/20/2017 12:33 am Hello again! If you're in reference to the 7 and MM, looks like Die Deterioration and shearing MD. Note the upper bar of 7, the shearing reduces the original size of digit. The D is wear on dies, starting of Grease Fill or chipping inside. Report this Post to the Staff
