I'm just returning to the hobby from a nearly 5 year hiatus. I'm reasonably confident I know the key coins up to 2012, but know nothing of the coins that followed. What (if any) any circulation issues since 2012 have been getting a lot of attention for low mintages/rarity/high demand.

Thanks

Well, for starters, the 2017 P pennies are selling for ridiculous amounts on ebay due to the fact the Philadelphia Mint is celebrating their 225th anniversary (1792-present) so this is the only year they are putting the 'P' mint marks on pennies.

back skelly!

I also took a 10 year or so hiatus from the mid 90's till around 2007.

Spent most of my $'s on Proof ASE's I had missed and mint proof sets for about 3 years.

Not much in Canada. 2012 old style toon and loon, 2017 150th coins. Rest has been standard circulation stuff. You might have missed the release of 1912-14 $5 & $10 gold coins from bank of Canada vaults. Some people were big fans, others were not.I wish I would have bought more.

I am also returning to looking for Cdn coins in circulation after a few years off. Now that I have two more grandkids, I am trying to get their collection up to date. It is taking more time than I had hoped.
Like you I thought I was doing well for the regular Cdn coins until from this site I found that there were old and new styles of loonies and toonies for 2012. Arrghhh
