So, as part of my 12 Caesars collection I have a denarius (RIC 3) with a rare reverse. A friend pointed out to me a little while ago that there was a rare variant of this denarius that has a Lituus beneath the triangular frame on the Pulvinar, on the reverse.

I found one last night and bought it

I found the following examples of the new acquisition

Here is my original coin

Domitian. AR denarius (18.15 mm, 3.36 g, 7 h). Rome mint, struck A.D. 81.
Obv: IMP CAESAR DOMITIANVS AVG, laureate head right
Rev: TR P COS VII, draped throne, back decorated with grain ears. RIC 3; BMCRE 2; RSC 554a.

I must suppose that you are not catholic...
The catholic bishops still use lituus!
It was as heritage from the ancient roman priests

The lituus was the simbol of the Augures (a kind of fortune tellers, based in the study of the sacrifices, birds and other elements)
