So hopefully everyone can cut me some slack on some of the images I'll be posting. I tried taking some axial pics and I'm open to suggestions but these next several posts are all taken the same way. Also there may have been a little glare or purple color from gloves I wore.

I'll just repost new pictures another day. This was my first time trying and reading about trying to photograph it seemed like axial would show the most detail but it doesn't really show how these look in person or in hand. This is a capped variety 1879 and I was offered $1300 for it years ago raw. So take that how you want. I'll practice some more before posting again.

More than likely this is not a genuine coin.
The reverse is copied from a VAM-3 Large/Small CC, but the obverse date is blundered, lacking the doubling of a 79CC VAM-3 and with numerals that are oddly shaped and too skinny. There is also extensive pitting on the reverse of this coin which is not seen on VAM-3 dies unless this coin has been dipped in acid or otherwise suffered extensive corrosion and pitting.
The obverse rim is convex, and what appears to be a casting seam line can be clearly seen around its circumference towards the top of the picture.
The cap, and the area above and behind the cap, show extensive flaws, damage and pitting consistent with a poor quality cast counterfeit.

Questionable Authenticity here too. I am not sure it is a counterfeit but I sure wouldn't buy it from those pics.

It looks like a VAM-3A that's been abused to me. I can make out the die gouge off the left wing and between A_M. On the obverse the die crack between 1_9 and across you R I B is correct. If this is fake it's a darn good one.

I'd suggest you take advantage of an ANACS grading special and have your coins authenticated and graded professionally.
You are going to get opinions here that will be all over the map.

Sending this to anacs would be a waste of money imho.

I think the reflection from the purple gloves you were wearing during the photo shoot did not help your pictures. Maybe the lighting didn't help either. The "coppery" looking edges in the pics raise huge questions. Is it from the reflection? Do the edges really look like that in hand? I'd suggest getting several opinions from local dealers regarding authenticity BEFORE declaring that your coins are fake. If they are fake, they are some of the best I have seen. The 79-CC's come with two mm types....one that looks chewed up like yours and one that has a large and well defined CC. As I stated earlier, opinions on your coins will, and have been, all over the map. Only YOU know the history of the coins! If they are fake you probably already know it. If you think they are real then send them in for TPG. To be marketable they will need to be authenticated and graded. Good luck!
