I read this book "Pleasure and Profit " about how to buy and sell coins for profit and this guy Shippee says you should just buy a truly rare Morgan and leave the rest alone due to the expense. I have 71 Morgans mostly in AU to BU condition. Those key dates make me step back because I don't have $100,000 to spend on them in the condition I want.

A Fire Bucket full - and then some. Have sold a couple of thousand on The Bay over the past six years and continue to do so. Here's my highest grade keeper (MS-67 Star):

Have full set of mint state CC Morgans plusa few highend spatterings. Don't think I will complete the collection, though. Australian Lunars seem to be a much better investment

Morgans hold a special place in my heart. One cannot have enough of them.

I'm not sure how many I have, but if I were to take an educated guess, it would have to be close to a dozen.

I might get some toned Morgans to be placeholders for the coin I have that are slabbed. If I buy a coin with value above $500 I am apt to keep it in the slab. So much easier to sell when and if I get around to it. I lack 6 Morgans including 93-S, 89CC and 95 proof. The 93CC, 94 and 95-S I can afford in AU perhaps. EF45 is another option I would not sneer at for the scarce ones.

Gosh those are some nice collections! I had a bunch of Morgans that I got back in the 60s for $1.25 each average price, but got rid of them throughout the years. Only 3 left: 1893-CC PCGS VG8, 1896-S PCGS MS63, and a BU 1921. I certainly can understand why many folks like em though.

They have so much detail and can be gotten in mint condition without putting a mortgage on your house.
