When our mint started making mass quantities of non-silver and gold coins they made the future of coin collecting no long a kids hobby. The modern coins became worthless in and of them selves and when they mint 100 billion coins they will never be scarce. Less than a 100 years ago the Mint had runs of less than one million coins that were meant for circulation.

Crazyb0, you're not paranoid - just security conscious. Speaking of security, I need to get one of those signs that says - Security by Beretta, Ruger, Sig Sauer etc etc

I own a small hoard of Morgans. I only collect by type usually, so I don't need each and every date (thank goodness!) I have a PCGS digital album set up with my Morgan Type set and favorite toners.

I have a bunch of Morgan dollars that I bought purely as bullion. Most are actually in AU state, so not "really" bullion, but I also have a bunch of "junk silver" ones as well. No idea how many at this point, and I'm not in the mood to go to the bank and dig them out to photograph them, sorry.

In addition to those, however, I do have a small number of "special" Morgan dollars that I have picked up over the years.

This one is the first Morgan dollar I bought as a "special" coin (as opposed to bullion) because of the date and the mint mark. I bought it raw and then later had it slabbed:

Next is one I bought as a birthday present for myself. Nothing special about the date, but I wanted another CC mint mark and really wanted a certified DMPL example:

Finally, I bought this one a couple of years ago after I inherited a little money from my father's estate. He always loved collecting coins and in his honor I decided to get a couple of more expensive coins that I otherwise never would have been able to justify buying (the other was a 1799 Draped Bust Dollar):

Barry....I have seen your proof dollar several times here on CCF and it ranks as one of the most stunning coins I have ever seen. I never get tired of seeing it!

I think I have three. I really enjoy this coin--it's big, hefty and silver. Just like a dollar coin should be. I would like to have enough to take a bath in.
