How can I learn, or where should I go to learn the current value of a rare, collectible U.S. Ten dollar gold coin minted in 1890?

Depending on condition and damages/cleaning, if any, an 1890 Liberty Head $10 (Eagle) could be worth anywhere from melt value (just under $600) to $4300 in Choice Uncirculated (MS63) grade.

Pictures of your coin would be required to go any further.

Does it have a mintmark? If not it is an 1890-P and at MS60 is valued at $1950, (book value)

1890-P in MS60 has a value of around $950 if not slabbed by a reputable TPG; depending on who the grading service is, the value might range between $900 to $1100. MS-60 coins (as graded by modern TPG's) tend to have low eye appeal which holds the value back vs. MS63 and above.

In terms of rarity, MS-60 or better survival estimates are at @400 coins for an 1890-P $10 eagle. That's out of nearly 58K minted.
In terms of price PCGS price guide lists it at $800. Interestingly the recent auction prices are higher for NGC coins vs PCGS, which is contrary to most coins. This is probably due to the NGC coins being in more recent auctions.
Edit:based on PCGS CoinFacts

Jim!

Do you own this coin or are you thinking about buying one?
If you do own it we would love to see a picture.
