I was wondering if you can post more pictures. I think it might be a shattered obverse die.

Looks like some sort of lamination error. Nice!

A coin weight would be a great help.

Even just seeing a partial obverse and it's an awesome coin! Super jealous.

If coin is under weight, it might have peeled/lost part of the layer of the metal ? If is normal weight then it might be a peeled struck through on that area? Looks like a very small amount would have been lost.

So you are thinking a lamination and not a broken die? http://goccf.com/t/116534

This doesn't look like a broken or cracked die to me. The anomaly has a curved undulating quality to it where most cracks, even if curved have a linear look. A cracked or split die would also have allowed coin metal to fill the crack void thus showing a highlight on the coins lighting side of the anomaly. The op's coin only shows a shadow where the anomaly is.
Being struck through could be a possibility.
What gets me is the shadow line with a lack of a highlight to go with it. Added to this is the slight change in color from one side of the anomaly to the other. There may well be a layer of some clear substance on the coin
