While going through my raw silver coins, I found an 1830 50c Capped Bust. I am trying to find out how can I tell if it is Large Letters or not. I tried to scan the coin, but it came out extremely bad. I am going to try and take a picture of it next, but I was hoping someone could help me identify the coin.

This link should take you to a page with pictures of Bust Half varieties by year. Hope that helps.

I went to the site, but it did not have anything on the 1830 large letters....at least that I could find. Thank you though, the site is very good.

Yeah, I checked the site after I posted the link & saw there wasn't anything on 1830's. Lot's of info on other years.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to determine the large letter variety of this coin?

The (reverse) Large Letter variety is noticeably larger than the (Reverse) Small Letter variety at this link below.

You will have to compare your coin to those listed though. One at a time, every variety of 1830 ever struck at this link. However, the chances of having a Large Letter 1830 Bust half are pretty slim though. Good Luck.
