So I had ordered my annual sets from the Mint with budget shipping a while ago and as usual they were sent through Fedex Smartpost. Characteristically, the package moved as fast as a speeding turtle, but its status was updated to "delivered" today. Yet when I went to get it, the box was nowhere to be found. I searched all around to no avail, and finally came to the conclusion that it was missing.

I immediately contacted my Post Office and alerted them of the issue. Sure enough, after some waiting, the worker told me that it was "misdelivered" and the postman would go back to find it. I was getting worried, but soon thereafter, someone showed up at my door with my package. I expected it to be the deliveryman, but it turned out that the package was delivered to a similar address elsewhere in town and that homeowner had come to return it. Everything was still sealed in the package

It could very well have turned out differently, so hats off to that stranger whose kindness made my day! Just thought I'd share this positive story and hopefully brighten everyone's day a little

There are decent, honest people around...sometimes it takes an unplanned event to meet them.

Does this type of postal service error happen in other countries? Or is it only in the USA?

CollegeBarbers- great news, it isn't often we get news that restores our faith in mankind. I bet you would return the favour if situation was reversed.

nutmeg- yes this happens in Canada as well, and I have been on both sides of the "coin", so to say.

I would gladly return the favor, and have returned mail to its proper recipient many times in the past. It happens more than it should, but as long as everything gets where it belongs that's all that matters.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the story! As many pointed out, there's still lots of great people in the world
