Picked up my first Texas commem. A friend had it and I thought why not. I have $100 into it. I'm not good at grading the early commmems so what's your first though as to grade? Its not a details coin. Also, was the $100 a good deal? Thanks guys

I'm seeing rub on all the high points, eagle's chest, left leg, on obverse head, knees.
AU-58
Rest in Peace

Note the light rub on the obverse near the center of the coin at eagle's left knee and left breast. It has the very slightest rub as befits an AU-58.

It has not been cleaned or dipped. Even though it's very bright, that is the common condition for this date and mm.

$100 was just fine. Enjoy that beauty.

Thanks guys. But the slight rub at the high points looks more like friction rub to me over slight circulation. If this was a Morgan I'd call it ms.

Holy crap Fox, can these really go for that raw? I was thinking it's a $150-200 coin. Maybe I should have a go and submit her?

It is a beauty! You got a great deal in my opinion. You can't touch a AU55 Texas for $100.00
I think yours grades higher than that. I agree with others, a slider AU58.
Worth getting graded and sometimes an AU can look much better than a MS63. You done good!

there appears to be a tad of wear on everybodys forehead and Liberty's knees.
The Eagle breast and left leg. Just enough to keep it out of MS.

63 minimum all day long! Send it in for TPG and find out for sure. Nice pickup!

Nice coin!

I agree with those that assessed the coin as an AU example. I also see wear on all of the high points on the obverse as well as the reverse.

At that grade level, $100 is a very fair price.
